GRASP’s Community-Centered Support for Learners Across Generations
Strengthening Families Through Education
GRASP believes that education is not only about individual success, but also about uplifting families and strengthening entire communities. By supporting learners at different stages of life, GRASP helps break cycles of vulnerability and builds a foundation for long-term community resilience.
One such case is Beryl Achieng Othiambo, who was forced to discontinue her studies at Pwani University due to financial and personal challenges. Rather than focusing on her situation alone, GRASP took a family-centered approach to ensure that education continues within her household.
GRASP currently supports Beryl’s son, Liam, who is enrolled in PP2, and her niece, Nadia, a Grade 6 learner. This support ensures that young learners remain in school, receive consistent educational opportunities, and grow in a stable, supportive environment.
Through this community-focused model, GRASP invests in families as a whole recognizing that when one learner is supported, the positive impact extends to siblings, caregivers, and the wider community. Education becomes a shared responsibility and a shared pathway toward a stronger, more empowered society.
