How GRASP gave Mary a second chance
From Teenage Mother to Empowered Parent
When 16-year-old Mary became pregnant, her education seemed over. Her family struggled financially, and the shame of teenage pregnancy made her want to hide. But then she found Grace Link Springs of Hope.
Mary enrolled in our teenage mothers program while her baby was cared for in our daycare center. She received:
• Educational support and mentorship
• Life skills and parenting training
• Psychosocial counseling
• Vocational training in tailoring
Today, two years later, Mary has completed her secondary education and runs a small tailoring business. Her child is thriving in GRASP Academy's early childhood program.
"Grace Link didn't just give me skills," Mary says. "They gave me hope. They showed me that being a young mother doesn't mean my dreams are over. Now I can provide for my child and I'm proud of what I've achieved."
Mary's story represents the 30+ teenage mothers we've supported through our empowerment programs. Each one has a unique journey, but they all share one thing: the determination to create a better future for themselves and their children.
